We had a wonderful stay at Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel. The hotel itself is elegant and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere, especially during the festive season. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well maintained, and the overall environment felt calm and welcoming. Breakfast was enjoyable with a good selection and pleasant surroundings. A special thank you to Sabina, who provided excellent service. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring, which made our experience even more memorable. We felt very well looked after throughout our stay and would happily recommend this hotel to others.
The location is great and the staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and sufficient. However, the hotel is definitely showing its age. While the rooms are spacious, the interior and furniture are quite old. Also, the beds were small. Cleanliness was also a disappointment—the carpets were dirty when we arrived, and there were spider webs on the bathroom ceiling.
The room was lovely, but the pillows were too soft, we asked for extra but it still wasn't enough. The service was a bit slow, and the reception is at the other end of the building to where you come in from the car park, then you walk all the way back down to get the lift to the rooms. It was alot of walking if you needed anything.
Just had an amazing night at the Royal Marriott Hotel in Bristol in the 2 bedroomed royal suite. The staff were very polite and professional, the hotel is stunning inside and out. Executive Lounge is excellent and well worth getting. We had copious amounts of coffee and soft drinks, cheese board, full English breakfast with pastries and fruits, wine, cookies and much more. The super king bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, shower was wonderful. Perfect location to explore Bristol, just 20 minute walk to town, Cathedral next door hotel which is worth a visit. O2 Academy is a 5 minute walk away.
This hotel needs to up its game. I spent my university years in Bristol looking at the Royal Marriott and dreaming of the day when I could afford to stay there. This day has now arrived, although I was pretty disappointed. I’ll start off with the positives, which is that the rooms were comfortable and the property is magnificent. The location is also the best in the entire city. However, the problem with hotels like this one is whereas they once would have been staffed by locals with a career focused on hospitality, they are now run by students, immigrants, part timers and people in career transition. As such the service and “city experience” is completely lost. Our biggest gripe was that having been explicitly promised a room upgrade, this was in fact not the case. The receptionist Malik spent literally hours faffing around, wasting our time before eventually trying to convince us we had indeed been upgraded to the top room when we hadn’t. It was about 5.30pm when we finally managed to check in. The upgrade, ultimately, is not that important. What matters is how the reception staff wasted so much of everyone’s time because of a complete lack of training and discipline. While some were staff were adequately trained and ameanable, many others would simply “gawp” at you when you asked them for something. For example, I could not get access to the breakfast lounge because of a problem with my key card. Instead of using some common sense or pledging to help me resolve the issue, the waitress simply said “You need to go upstairs.” Having recently spend two weeks at a Marriott Bonvoy in Bangkok, the gulf in service quality between these two properties was night and day. This hotel, while still a luxurious place to stay, is a microcosm of how standards have fallen across so many once world class British industries.
