Edinburgh Castle, Castlehill, Edinburgh EH1 2NG, UK
Lovely gatehouse to the Edinburgh Castle with beautiful view of the Edinburgh. Love the gate area, stone walls and pebbles road which creating nice drama specially very photographic. You can see the Scots Royal history. From the top of castle you can find amazing panorama view of Edinburgh.
The Gatehouse that millions of visitors pass through every year was built in 1886. This provided a much grander entrance to the castle. Built in a Scots Baronial style, it was designed in secret because the military authorities feared it would have an adverse public reaction. As you walk through the gatehouse to the inner defenses, one of the first things to see in Edinburgh Castle is a plaque high on the walls above. It commemorates William Kirkcaldy, the man who held Edinburgh Castle on behalf of Mary Queen of Scots. The famous monarch had been forced to abdicate and her young son declared King James VI. Scotland was in the midst of a civil war.
Edinburgh Castle is a truly remarkable landmark, steeped in history and towering majestically over the city. It feels as though the entire city of Edinburgh was built around this iconic fortress, a testament to its central role in Scotland's past. The castle offers breathtaking views of the city, making it a favorite spot for visitors and locals alike. Inside, you'll find fascinating exhibits, from the Crown Jewels to the Stone of Destiny, each telling a piece of Scotland's rich history. The architecture is awe-inspiring, and the guided tours are both informative and engaging. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply looking to explore Scotland's heritage, Edinburgh Castle is an unmissable experience that captures the spirit of the city.
