Old Palace Chester

Myself and my now Husband got married here at the start of September and from start to finish, the day was absolutely spectacular! The Old Palace is an astonishing venue in a great area of Chester. With places like the Cathedral grounds and the Suspension Bridge within walking distance, these make for some amazing photo opportunities for the wedding couple! From start to finish, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and reassuring, exceeding all expectations and creating the perfect day. My husband and I knew we were in good hands and never had to worry about anything on the day as the team dealt with everything perfectly. Special thanks to Lauren, who went above and beyond in making our day the best it could be. Nothing was too much for her and we will be forever grateful for all that she did on throughout our wedding day. The range of food and drink throughout the day from drinks reception, to wedding breakfast and even to the evening food, meant that there was something for everyone! One thing that our family and friends keep saying is that the quality of the food was fantastic and the cocktails we chose were fantastic! I would definitely recommend asking for their list of recommended suppliers as this made the wedding planning so much easier. This meant that vendors knew the venue's rules and what times they could arrive to set up/turn down ect. Nothing was too much trouble for the team at Old Palace and trust me, I had many many questions during the months leading upto the wedding. All the stress and worry will be more than worth it if you choose Old Palace as your dream venue. You won't regret it! Take advantage of the Chef's Table experiences as this is the best way to discover your perfect menu. It's not just a menu tasting, it's a fully indulged wedding experience! One final thing to say would be that we couldn't have imagined our special day to have gone any better! And this was down to The Old Palace and their staff! Old Palace Chester was everything we could have dreamed of and more. The venue itself is breathtaking, perfectly located by the river and Roman ruins; ideal for sneaking away for the most beautiful photo opportunities. But what really made it flawless was the service and the incredible staff. So many of our guests told us it was the best wedding they had ever attended. From the very beginning, Gemma was outstanding. We only had a few months to plan, but she made the whole process so easy and stress-free. On the day itself, we were lucky enough to have both Gemma and Lauren coordinating, and they were nothing short of amazing. Everything ran seamlessly, allowing us to relax and just enjoy every moment. If you want the most perfect wedding, this is the venue for you. We couldn’t recommend Old Palace Chester highly enough. The Old Palace Chester is stunning, tucked away behind the city walls and almost hidden in the middle of Chester city. It feels like a real secret gem. The views over the river are gorgeous, and every single room and space we used was beautifully presented with so much attention to detail. It created the perfect atmosphere for the whole weekend, and our guests didn’t stop complimenting how beautiful the palace was. I didn't want to leave. The food was incredible from start to finish, from the chilled pizza night the evening before, to the wedding breakfast, and then the evening BBQ. Everything tasted amazing, and the quality was consistent for everyone, which so many guests commented on. But what really made the whole experience unforgettable was the staff. Every single person was genuinely invested in making our day special, and everyone was so friendly. The cleaners even stopped working to watch me walk down in my dress after chatting with me the day before, such a small moment, but it meant so much. We wanted the whole day to feel warm and relaxed, and the staff played a huge part in creating that atmosphere. Anne Marie, who helped in the morning, was calm, organised and made everything run smoothly. Zak on the bar went above and beyond for everyone, he even grabbed a Red Bull for a family member when he saw him flagging. Just so lovely to have that level of care for guests. Gemma, the events manager on the day, was impeccable. Her attention to detail was unreal, and she went out of her way to make sure both myself and Mark had everything we needed. As master of ceremonies she kept guests in the loop, but always in such a friendly way. Nicola and Lex, in the lead-up, was amazing, always flexible, always helpful, and genuinely lovely to deal with. The waiting staff at the wedding breakfast were so attentive that guests were still talking about them afterwards. The food service honestly felt like being in a real palace. One lovely young waitress looked after us and she was so polite and kind. You can really tell that the whole team work so well together, it makes such a difference. They created the most beautiful, memorable experience for us, within the most beautiful and memorable setting and we’re so grateful for everything they did. The Old Palace Chester is truly exceptional, and we’d recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

Old palace is such an incredible venue to get married in. We got married in September this year and had the best day celebrating. The food was amazing and we had so many comments from our guests about how incredible the food, venue and service was! 👌The staff there are so helpful and attentive. A special shout out to Georgie and Lauren who go the extra mile for every couple and make your day even more special. Would definitely recommend getting the cocktails and beer barrels for your guests it went down a treat! X

From the very first conversation, Lauren, our wedding coordinator, was extraordinary. She has a warmth that instantly puts you at ease, and her incredible attention to detail meant that we never once had to worry about a thing. Every question was answered with such care, every idea we had was listened to and brought to life, and she somehow managed to anticipate what we needed before we even realised it ourselves. On the morning of the wedding, Anne Marie was also amazing. Her presence was so reassuring, and she made sure everything ran seamlessly. Together, the team at Old Palace created not only a beautiful event, but also an atmosphere filled with love, ease, and joy. We cannot recommend this venue highly enough.
